So My fiancee and I are having our first child whom is due in 3 weeks!!! We have been together for 5 years now and he is EXACTLY the same as when I first met him. Not going to school, living like a slob, not wanting a better job because he is comfortable in the low paying one he has, thinking of himself and always putting himself first. Spending money on himself we do not have, he has gotten better about it but he still spends more money than we truly have on silly things like a $4 coffee everyday. It adds up to nearly $120 a month of coffee alone which is diapers and bills and food we could buy. Things are and have been changing, we must prioritize money and keep up on chores and cleaning. We both just turned 24 less than 3 weeks ago so we both still have growing up to do. All the changes have been much easier for me than my fiancee and no matter what I do or say or how hard I try he just does not get it!!! We argue about the same things over and over and he always says he will do it and he will change. And with me keeping on his case he does do it or change but only temporarily. As soon as I lay off him and cut him slack he takes advantage of it and goes right back to square one. -Simple things like he does not wipe his hair off the counter after he shaves. - He will just take his dirty clothes off and throw them right on the floor for me to clean up or yell at him till he picks it up 3 days later. -If he spills food or drink on the counter or floor he just leaves it there to stain and dry instead of doing what a normal person would do and wipe it up. And not putting dishes in the sink and leaving them to rot and mold all over the house. -He goes mountain biking and will drag his muddy bike, pack, clothes and shoes into the house on the carpet and throw his muddy stuff on the sofa which now has stains covered by a sheet. -He does not wash his hands after taking a dump. My 5 year old cousin washes his hands any time he uses the bathroom, my fiancee will not even wash his hands after he takes a dump!!! -He leaves small bolts and nuts and little tools and junk all over the house which is not acceptable now that we have a child who will put those things in his mouth and choke!!! -He will blow his nose and toss the tissue on the ground or table and eat food and toss the trash on the floor even with a trash can 3 feet away. That is not normal or acceptable behaviour, the floor is not a trash can! -He does not brush his teeth and has horrible hygene. Which has improved but is still not where it should be. We actually have rats because I can not keep up with his constant crumb making, spilling of food, leaving of trash etc... I lived alone for 2 years before living with him and not once in my life have I ever had rats, mice, roaches or any pest problem until he moved in with me. He is not a child but needs to be treated like one or nothing gets done. And I HATE having to be a nag and always get on his case to get simple things done. I wish he would just know they need to get done and just take responsibility. The worse part is that unless I scream, nag, yell and be a serious b*itch he will not do it, he will ignore me and brush it off saying he will do it when he feels like it, which ends up being never and I end up doing it for him. The only things that works is me yelling at him and threatening him with me leaving. It is rediculous. I could tolerate some of the mess and things before but I do not want his bad filthy habbits rubbing off on our son and my priority in going to be caring for the baby and the babies safety and health... not following him around making sure he does simple things. I LOVE my fiancee more than words could even say. That is why I have put up with this. But things have changed now that there is a baby involved his behaviour MUST change and I don't know how to get him to do it or realize. We are parents now, and role models. The Supreme Court on Thursday all but ensured that even more Americans will die senselessly with its wrongheaded and dangerous ruling striking down key parts of the District of Columbia’s gun-control law. In a radical break from 70 years of Supreme Court precedent, Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, declared that the Second Amendment guarantees individuals the right to bear arms for nonmilitary uses, even though the amendment clearly links the right to service in a “militia.” The ruling will give gun-rights advocates a powerful new legal tool to try to strike down gun-control laws across the nation. This is a decision that will cost innocent lives, cause immeasurable pain and suffering and turn America into a more dangerous country. It will also diminish our standing in the world, sending yet another message that the United States values gun rights over human life. There already is a national glut of firearms: estimates run between 193 million and 250 million guns. The harm they do is constantly on heartbreaking display. Thirty-three dead last year in the shootings at Virginia Tech. Six killed this year at Northern Illinois University. On Wednesday, as the court was getting ready to release its decision, a worker in a Kentucky plastics plant shot his supervisor, four co-workers and himself to death. Cities and states have tried to stanch the killing with gun-control laws. The District of Columbia, which has one of the nation’s highest crime rates, banned the possession of nearly all handguns and required that other firearms be stored unloaded and disassembled, or bound with a trigger lock. Overturning that law, the court’s 5-to-4 decision says that individuals have a constitutional right to keep guns in their homes for self-defense. But that’s a sharp reversal for the court: as early as 1939, it made clear that the Second Amendment only protects the right of people to carry guns for military use in a militia. In his dissent, Justice John Paul Stevens was right when he said that the court has now established “a new constitutional right” that creates a “dramatic upheaval in the law.” Even if there were a constitutional right to possess guns for nonmilitary uses, constitutional rights are not absolute. Resolved Question: With the rear brake drums pressurized, you take off the wheel, what are the chances that the drum might...?

(drum might)...move 1/1000th of an inch away from the car toward you, since the wheel is not there anymore. If it moves a little, will it move easily back when you put the wheel back on when you are retightening the nuts. Since I wasn't sure of this, I put in my old truck rim as a jack stand for safety, and released the emergency brake on the back wheels. Then I put the wheel on, and held it with my hands on the rubber as hard as I could and tightened up the lug nuts. This way I figured it would definately touch as far as it could. Then I took out the jack stand and lowered the tire so it just barely touched the ground, but applied some pressure, more than I could apply with my hands. Then I tightened the lug nut some more. Then I lowered the jack a couple more turns, and tightened the lug nuts some more. Then I lowered the jack all the way, and made sure the lug nuts were at the proper torque. Then I put the emergency brake back on, and took out the wheel chucks and cleaned up any tools. Anyone have any comments on this? more

Like a tornado with no wall, tower, thing or person to stop it's powerful surge smashing your make believe world to pieces! The police made their report, after they arrived, responding to a security department's call for help. They investigate and take statements from witnesses (If there was any), then make their report. They tell the victim/s that they will do what they can to find the criminal/s involved. That's all they can do. And they are doing their jobs well. No shame should fall on our Criminal Justice system's Vanguard, the police. They are a re-active crime control agency. If the crime was at a Shopping mall, Hospital, University or office complex, chances are, the corporate owners are afraid the liability risk is much to high to give their security departments the right tools they need to prevent such crimes against your family. They implement a strict policy of hands off, when it comes to preventing crime! They are told to call the police if there is something that may cause an interruption in the peace and public safety. Everyday tons of hazardous electronic waste is dumped in China and other developing countries. These wastes come from various items that we use in our everyday life; some include batteries, kitchen appliances, used computer equipment, and other worn out electronic devices. These items contain chemicals, heavy metals, dangerous pathogens, and other toxins. Many places like the U.S. or the UK have not officially banned exportation of these electronic items, and countries like China still do not enforce their rules of banning e-waste importation. China allows a city like Guiyu to collect, dissemble, and produce toxic e-waste because they are a developing country who needs the money that they receive by taking in this e-waste. Since recent booms in sales of electronic items more of this e-waste is being made, which makes it hard to enforce exportation of it; because of the rate that e-waste is filling into landfills also makes it harder to discard of it. (“Toxic Waste”) In the city of Guiyu an environmental problem has spiraled out of control, citizens are being allowed to dismantle electronic waste (most imported) in their homes and near by workshops. In China recycling e-waste is not taken as a threat to the environment or health and safety regulations. Even though the Chinese law prohibits the importation of e-waste and Beijing is part of the Basle Agreement, (an international treaty that is banning the shipment of e-waste from developed countries to developing countries), they still import e-waste. Only in Guiyu are officials allowing this importation of e-waste, because it provides the cities residents with income; and so far China has not put a stop to it, because they are so hungry for all sorts of metals and the money that they earn for taking the metals and electronic items. (“In The ‘Toxic City of Guiyu, Children Play Among The Waste”) Developed countries like the U.S. (which did not sign the Basle Agreement) could keep their e-waste and properly dispose of it, but the cost of doing so does not outweigh environmental and health problems that are appearing in developing countries like China. (“Toxic Waste”) The impact that e-waste is having on the wellbeing of the people in Guiyu is disastrous, and much of this could be stopped with a few e-waste regulations. “Computer carcasses line the streets, awaiting dismemberment. Circuit boards and hard drives lie in huge mounds. At thousands of workshops, laborers shred and grind plastic casings into particles, snip cables and pry chips from circuit boards. Workers pass the boards through red-hot kilns or acid baths to dissolve lead, silver and other metals from the digital detritus.” (“Chinese City Is World’s Digital Scrap Heap”) In Guiyu, workers are dismembering various electronic items. Most of them are equipped with only small hand tools; which they use to take apart old computers, monitors, printers, DVD players, telephones, MP3 players, and other electronic objects. Several of these items come from brand named companies (like HP, LG, Apple, and Compaq) who say they recycle their products. Workers that are unaware of these toxins tear apart each piece of electronic items to its smallest components, and melt the items in open fires to extract metals. Others take the remaining pieces of scrap metals and dump them in water ways. (“Toxic Tea Party”) All of this e-waste has an effect on the environment in Guiyu. “Water sources are black and pungent and choked with industrial waste, says Kevin Brigden. Brigden (Greenpeace Research Laboratories) tested streams in Guiyu and found out that acid was leaking into them. The streams had soaring levels of toxic heavy metals, which were powerful enough to disintegrate a penny in a few hours.” (Toxic Tea Party”) In Guiyu the price of water is ten times more than in other surrounding places. Water is usually brought to the people of the city by truck, because the streams are so heavily polluted that it turns a dark black color in seconds. The e-waste has had a negative effect on the health of the people that live around it. This e-waste can harm humans and animals if they encounter these toxins. Some toxins persist in the environment and accumulate; humans or animals often absorb them. Organizations say that dangerous levels of the metals found in Guiyu have negative effects on children. (“Toxic Waste”) A group found "Over 10 poisonous metals, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, in Guiyu” said Lai Yun, a campaigner. Eighty two percent of Guiyu children had blood/ lead levels of more than 100. Anything above that figure is considered unsafe by health experts. The average reading for these children was 149” (“Toxic Tea Party”) These high levels of lead in adults and children can lead to lower IQ’s and the development of the central nervous system. It also can cause headaches, nausea, miscarriages, and skin damage. Many of these symptoms that these people are having have not been treated properly, and the peasants do not understand what damage e-waste does to them. Clearly people suffer but that does not mean that they get paid good wages, on average workers earn about 200 to 300 yuan (US$ 24-US$36) per month in Guiyu. Despite all the toxins that come from e-waste, its business provides Guiyu’s locals with a more profitable living. Many residents have had better opportunities since they started recycling e-waste. City officials are proud of the e-waste industry but sensitive about its reputation as a dirty business that feeds off smuggled waste and abuses labor rights. Visitors quickly find themselves detained by the local police officers, and their video or digital photographs erased. Listen to the candidates when they talk about doing ANYTHING they promise. Then simply ask how they are going to pay for it. Once elected, they don’t get all that OPM just by asking for it. They take it by fraud and by force. They appropriate your money for their schemes. This may seem elementary. But millions of people still believe in them and appear to vote for them. And if promises don’t work they can always solicit the coveted Diebold Endorsement. The period between the Declaration and the Constitution taught us many painful lessons regarding the necessity of sound money and transparent, honest banking. The Continental Dollar was a disaster. Not only did it precipitate hyperinflation, being based ultimately on nothing of substance, but it drove hard money away. Realize sound money only moves it does not vanish. It is smart enough to know where it will be properly respected. I am a Cub Scout Den Leader and I wanted to have the boys build a birdhouse. My thought was to set up 4 stations including a table saw, hand drill, hammer and a nail gun. All the safety devices would be set and a parent would be at every station to help the boys use the tools. Really it was going to be that the boys make one cut (on one piece) on the table saw. Drill a hole for the perch and then hammer in the perch. They would then use the nail gun to put the house together. I have done this several times with my own son but one parent is bawking at the idea thinking the kids are too young. What do you think? more

What do you do?? I would hope you let the train hit the car. But here is the rub. By choosing to buy the car and not using the money to make the world a better place are you not in effect killing the refugees anyway? I have sent this story to hundreds of people. The response is almost always the same. Actually the most common response is nothing. But those who do respond usually say I work hard, etcetera, etcetera, I deserve, etcetera, etcetera. But if you own 3 Ferraris, or even one for that matter, it is as much about luck as it is about deserving. If your are Shaquille Oneal and you were lucky enough to get the genes you got you are just as lucky as the child born to poverty and oppression is unlucky. There is no harder work NO harder life than imposed poverty and NO ONE deserves that life. Let’s look at it a different way. How much does that 5th Hummer increase the quality of your life? How much more happy are you with that car than you would be with out it? The difference is marginal at best. You probably would not even notice the difference if it was not in the garage. But you do have a 5 car garage and have to keep it filled. How much does it cost to fix a hair lip on a poor little girl in Bolivia, maybe $ 5,000? So instead of spending $ 50,000 on that car and making your life a tiny bit better, why not make 10 lives infinitely better? I was having lunch with a friend and before we went to lunch we popped into a jewelry store. She has a friend who makes jewelry and she wanted to show it to me. We were looking and I recognized a belt that my friend wears. I asked how much for the belt. The salesperson said $ 5,000. My friend has a $ 5,000 belt!!! So while we were having lunch I asked my friend how much different her life would be if she did not have the belt. “Not much” she said. Then I asked. “If your granddaughter had a hair lip and you had to sell the belt to fix it what would you do.” She said, “Well I would just take the money out of the bank.” I pointed out that this was all fantasy/hypothesis and that we have to assume that selling the belt is the only way to repair her grand daughter’s hair lip. Then she said. “Of course I would sell the belt, she’s family.” I said. “We are all family. All of us are one family, one human race. It is about compassion knowing that when you buy something extravagant and wasteful you are stealing bread from a starving child. I know it’s hard because we live in an extravagant country. The human gravel makers squat on their heels, with hammers and chisels, and break up rocks. They do it 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, with no safety glasses, no protection on their hands, for 25 cents an hour, $ 2 a day. One evening began with the sound of church bells ringing, and a bit later I could hear the choir too. As someone left of center, I can say that the Euro-socialist countries of Northern Europe roughly strike the right balance between providing a social safety net and tools for upward mobility on the one hand and allowing people to profit from hard work, smart investment, or innovation on the other. The more powerful individuals in the society have several shrines in their houses and, in fact, the opulence of a house is often referred to in terms of the number of such ritual centers it possesses. Most houses are of wattle and daub construction, but the shrine rooms of the more wealthy are walled with stone. Poorer families imitate the rich by applying pottery plaques to their shrine walls. ¶ 4 While each family has at least one such shrine, the rituals associated with it are not family ceremonies but are private and secret. The rites are normally only discussed with children, and then only during the period when they are being initiated into these mysteries. I was able, however, to establish sufficient [504 begins ->] rapport with the natives to examine these shrines and to have the rituals described to me. ¶ 5 The focal point of the shrine is a box or chest which is built into the wall. In this chest are kept the many charms and magical potions without which no native believes he could live. These preparations are secured from a variety of specialized practitioners. The most powerful of these are the medicine men, whose assistance must be rewarded with substantial gifts. However, the medicine men do not provide the curative potions for their clients, but decide what the ingredients should be and then write them down in an ancient and secret language. This writing is understood only by the medicine men and by the herbalists who, for another gift, provide the required charm. ¶ 6 The charm is not disposed of after it has served its purpose, but is placed in the charmbox of the household shrine. As these magical materials are specific for certain ills, and the real or imagined maladies of the people are many, the charm-box is usually full to overflowing. The magical packets are so numerous that people forget what their purposes were and fear to use them again. While the natives are very vague on this point, we can only assume that the idea in retaining all the old magical materials is that their presence in the charm-box, before which the body rituals are conducted, will in some way protect the worshiper. ¶ 7 Beneath the charm-box is a small font. Each day every member of the family, in succession, enters the shrine room, bows his head before the charm-box, mingles different sorts of holy water in the font, and proceeds with a brief rite of ablution.[5] The holy waters are secured from the Water Temple of the community, where the priests conduct elaborate ceremonies to make the liquid ritually pure. ¶ 8 In the hierarchy of magical practitioners, and below the medicine men in prestige, are specialists whose designation is best translated as "holy-mouth-men." The Nacirema have an almost pathological horror of and fascination with the mouth, the condition of which is believed to have a supernatural influence on all social relationships. Were it not for the rituals of the mouth, they believe that their teeth would fall out, their gums bleed, their jaws shrink, their friends desert them, and their lovers reject them. They also believe that a strong relationship exists between oral and moral characteristics. For example, there is a ritual ablution of the mouth for children which is supposed to improve their moral fiber. ¶ 9 The daily body ritual performed by everyone includes a mouth-rite. Despite the fact that these people are so punctilious [6] about care of the mouth, this rite involves a practice which strikes the uninitiated stranger as revolting. It was reported to me that the ritual consists of inserting a small bundle of hog hairs into the mouth, along with certain magical powders, and then moving the bundle in a highly formalized series of gestures.[7] ¶ 10 In addition to the private mouth-rite, the people seek out a holy-mouth-man once or twice a year. These practitioners have an impressive set of paraphernalia, consisting of a variety of augers, awls, probes, and prods. The use of [505 begins ->] these objects in the exorcism of the evils of the mouth involves almost unbelievable ritual torture of the client. The holy-mouth-man opens the client's mouth and, using the above mentioned tools, enlarges any holes which decay may have created in the teeth. Magical materials are put into these holes. If there are no naturally occurring holes in the teeth, large sections of one or more teeth are gouged out so that the supernatural substance can be applied. In the client's view, the purpose of these ministrations [8] is to arrest decay and to draw friends. The extremely sacred and traditional character of the rite is evident in the fact that the natives return to the holy-mouth-men year after year, despite the fact that their teeth continue to decay. ¶ 11 It is to be hoped that, when a thorough study of the Nacirema is made, there will be careful inquiry into the personality structure of these people. One has but to watch the gleam in the eye of a holy-mouth-man, as he jabs an awl into an exposed nerve, to suspect that a certain amount of sadism is involved. If this can be established, a very interesting pattern emerges, for most of the population shows definite masochistic tendencies. It was to these that Professor Linton referred in discussing a distinctive part of the daily body ritual which is performed only by men. This part of the rite includes scraping and lacerating the surface of the face with a sharp instrument. Special women's rites are performed only four times during each lunar month, but what they lack in frequency is made up in barbarity. As part of this ceremony, women bake their heads in small ovens for about an hour. The theoretically interesting point is that what seems to be a preponderantly masochistic people have developed sadistic specialists. ¶ 12 The medicine men have an imposing temple, or latipso, in every community of any size. The more elaborate ceremonies required to treat very sick patients can only be performed at this temple. These ceremonies involve not only the thaumaturge [9] but a permanent group of vestal maidens who move sedately about the temple chambers in distinctive costume and headdress. ¶ 13 The latipso ceremonies are so harsh that it is phenomenal that a fair proportion of the really sick natives who enter the temple ever recover. Small children whose indoctrination is still incomplete have been known to resist attempts to take them to the temple because "that is where you go to die." Despite this fact, sick adults are not only willing but eager to undergo the protracted ritual purification, if they can afford to do so. No matter how ill the supplicant or how grave the emergency, the guardians of many temples will not admit a client if he cannot give a rich gift to the custodian. Even after one has gained and survived the ceremonies, the guardians will not permit the neophyte to leave until he makes still another gift. ¶ 14 The supplicant entering the temple is first stripped of all his or her clothes. In everyday life the Nacirema avoids exposure of his body and its natural functions. Bathing and excretory acts are performed only in the secrecy of the household shrine, where they are ritualized as part of the body-rites. Psychological shock results from the fact that body secrecy is suddenly lost upon entry into the latipso. This sort of ceremonial treatment is necessitated by the fact that the excreta are used by a diviner to ascertain the course and nature of the client's sickness. Female clients, on the other hand, find their naked bodies are subjected to the scrutiny, manipulation and prodding of the medicine men. ¶ 15 Few supplicants in the temple are well enough to do anything but lie on their hard beds. The daily ceremonies, like the rites of the holy-mouth-men, involve discomfort and torture. With ritual precision, the vestals awaken their miserable charges each dawn and roll them about on their beds of pain while performing ablutions, in the formal movements of which the maidens are highly trained. At other times they insert magic wands in the supplicant's mouth or force him to eat substances which are supposed to be healing. From time to time the medicine men come to their clients and jab magically treated needles into their flesh. The fact that these temple ceremonies may not cure, and may even kill the neophyte, in no way decreases the people's faith in the medicine men. ¶ 16 There remains one other kind of practitioner, known as a "listener." This witch-doctor has the power to exorcise the devils that lodge in the heads of people who have been bewitched. The Nacirema believe that parents bewitch their own children. Mothers are particularly suspected of putting a curse on children while teaching them the secret body rituals. The counter-magic of the witch-doctor is unusual in its lack of ritual. The patient simply tells the "listener" all his troubles and fears, beginning with the earliest difficulties he can remember. The memory displayed by the Nacirema in these exorcism sessions is truly remarkable. It is not uncommon for the patient to bemoan the rejection he felt upon being weaned as a babe, and a few individuals even see their troubles going back to the traumatic effects of their own birth. ¶ 17 In conclusion, mention must be made of certain practices which have their base in native esthetics but which depend upon the pervasive aversion to the natural body and its functions. There are ritual fasts to make fat people thin and ceremonial feasts to make thin people fat. Still other rites are used to make women's breasts larger if they are small, and smaller if they are large. General dissatisfaction with breast shape is symbolized in the fact that the ideal form is virtually outside the range of human variation. A few women afflicted with almost inhuman hypermammary development are so idolized that they make a handsome living by simply going from village to village and permitting the natives to stare at them for a fee. ¶ 18 Reference has already been made to the fact that excretory functions are ritualized, routinized, and relegated to secrecy. Many wonder, “When will it end?” For some new updates I went to Http://www.cnn.com and clicked on the war in Iraq. Here is a story broadcasted on CNN: WASHINGTON (AP) -- The system for delivering badly needed gear to Marines in Iraq has failed to meet many urgent requests for equipment from troops in the field, according to an internal document obtained by The Associated Press. Of more than 100 requests from deployed Marine units between February 2006 and February 2007, less than 10 percent have been fulfilled, the document says. It blamed the bureaucracy and a "risk-averse" approach by acquisition officials. Among the items held up were a mine-resistant vehicle and a hand-held laser system. "Process worship cripples operating forces," according to the document. "Civilian middle management lacks technical and operational currency." The 32-page document -- labeled "For Official Use Only" -- was prepared by the staff of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force after they returned from Iraq in February. The document was to be presented in March to senior officials in the Pentagon's defense research and engineering office. The presentation was canceled by Marine Corps leaders because its contents were deemed too contentious, according to a defense official familiar with the document. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss it publicly. The document's claims run counter to the public description of a process intended to cut through the layers of red tape that frequently slow the military's procurement process. The Marine Corps had no immediate comment on the document. In a briefing Wednesday, Marine Corps officials hailed their "Urgent Universal Need Statement" system as a way to give Marines in combat a greater say in weapons-buying decisions. "What we all liked about [the urgent requests] is they came from the operators out on the ground and there was always a perceived better way of doing things," said Maj. Gen. Dennis Hejlik, who was a commander in Iraq from June 2004 to February 2005. The document lists 24 examples of equipment urgently needed by Marines in Iraq's Anbar province. One, the mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle, has received attention as a promising way to protect troops from roadside blasts, the leading killer of U.S. forces in Iraq. After receiving a February 2005 urgent request approved by Hejlik for nearly 1,200 of the vehicles, the Marine Corps instead purchased improved versions of the ubiquitous Humvee. The industrial capacity did not exist to quickly build the new mine-resistant vehicles and the more heavily armored Humvees were viewed as a suitable solution, Marine Corps officials said. That proved not to be the case, as insurgent elements in Iraq developed more powerful bombs that could penetrate the Humvees. The mine-resistant vehicles are now a top priority for all the military branches, which plan to buy 7,774 of the carriers at a cost of $8.4 billion. Brig. Gen. Robert Milstead, chief of Marine Corps public affairs, said cost was not a factor in choosing the Humvee. "This was not a budgetary decision," Milstead said Wednesday. "You can take that to the bank." 'Delays cause ... deaths and injuries' The internal document, however, states that the cost of building new vehicles was a primary reason the request was denied by the Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, Virginia. Needs of the deployed troops are "competed against funded programs," the document states. "Resistance costs time," it adds. "Unnecessary delays cause U.S. friendly and innocent Iraqi deaths and injuries." A second example cited is the compact high power laser dazzler, an inexpensive, nonlethal tool for steering unwelcome vehicles away from U.S. checkpoints in Iraq. The dazzler emits a powerful stream of green light that stops or redirects oncoming traffic by temporarily impairing the driver's vision. Safety procedures block laser purchase In June 2005, Marines stationed in western Iraq filed an urgent request for several hundred of the dazzlers, which are built by LE Systems, a small company in Hartford, Connecticut. The request was repeated nearly a year later. "Timely purchase and employment of all systems bureaucratically stymied," the document states. Separate documents indicate the deployed Marines became so frustrated at the delays they bypassed normal acquisition procedures and used money from their own budget to buy 28 of the dazzlers directly from LE Systems. But because the lasers had not passed a safety review process, stateside authorities barred the Marines from using them. In January, nearly 18 months after the first request, the Marines received a less powerful laser built by a different company. Titus Casazza, president of LE Systems, criticized the Marine Corps' acquisition process. 'Bureaucrats and lab rats' "The bureaucrats and lab rats sitting behind a desk stateside are making decisions on what will be given to our soldiers even if contrary to the specific requests of these soldiers and their commanding generals," he said. There are successful examples listed in the briefing document. A December request for an airborne surveillance system -- Angel Fire -- is expected to be filled this summer. The system provides constant overhead surveillance of large urban areas, such as Ramadi or Falluja, and is able to track the movement of people and vehicles. Len Blasiol, a civilian official with the Combat Development Command, said the speed with which requests can be met is largely dependent on how much research and development work needs to be done. "The first question is, 'Is this something we can go out right now today and buy? Is it sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting for us to buy?' Cohen is the 2nd DT with bad legs drafted, not good! Brown is a smart, but unspectacular CB. A poor mans Randall Gay. Clayton is a selfish head case who never utilized his potential at RB. A wasted pick. Bears = A - Olson will be a nice pass catching TE. Bazuin is a blue collar guy who adds depth for run support. Wolfe is a 3rd down back to spell Benson. OLB Okwo will learn while playing special teams for a few years. Beekman is an explosive run blocker better suited as a C. Payne played HB, WR, P, CB and S in college. A incredible athlete still learning the FS position, he could be a star in a few years. Graham is a top flight kick returner who will team with Hester to give them a deadly duo. McBride is a small CB who will have to make it on special teams. Brant is a reach who may be a big sized guard. Bengals = B Hall is a great pick who will team with Joseph to give them a solid, young CB tandem. Irons is a confusing pick considering they just resigned Watson to a big multi-year deal. Is this their way of saying Perry is done? White can play both S positions and adds depth. Rowe is like Palmer. Big arm, tall, but not a scrambler. Unlike Carson, his decision making is questionable. Toeaina has an inconsistent motor, but good tools to be a run stuffing DT. Santucci can play C and both guard spots. Ndukwe will try to make it on special teams. Bills = A Hall of Famer Marv Levy pulls out a steal! Lynch is seen as a mix of Thurman Thomas/ Ken Davis and a better fit for their offense than McGahee. A real steal is Posluszny, who will either try to fill Spikes or Fletchers spot and is solid. Many had Edwards the 2nd rated QB behind Russell and he will provide a nice push for the improving Losman. Wright will push Thomas for short yardage carries. Wendling can play either S position and always seems to make plays. Schouman is a FB who catches the ball extremely well. Ah You is a oft-injured, finesse DE who will have a hard time making the team. They didn't draft a CB or WR, so it wasn't a perfect draft, but good. Broncos = B - As usual, they trade. This time it is a gamble. Moss will either be a solid edge rusher or miss completely. Crowder is solid, but unspectacular and a reach. Harris was a smart pick to learn from his aging O line mates. You can't blame them for gambling on DT Thomas. If it works out, they get a perennial Pro Bowler. Browns = A - Thomas was a no brainer who now helps give the Browns a good looking offensive line. They paid way too much for Quinn, who was rated the 5th best QB by me, but he is a hometown kid who wants to play at home. Just don't be surprised if Frye or/and Anderson beat him out now that they have blockers finally. Wright is a great gamble. If he really has cleaned up his act, he might end up being the best CB to come from this draft. An immediate starter if just in nickel packages. McDonald is best suited to play FS. Purcell is a DE who may end up a DT. Pittman needs to bulk up in the weight room if he wants a roster spot as a DE. Steptoe will have to make it as a returner. Buccaneers = A+ Bucs had a fantastic draft top to bottom! Adams is the best DE in the draft and will learn from the aging Rice. Sears was a great pick who will help protect whoever the QB is and open a hole or 2 for Cadillac. Piscitelli is a great athlete who can play SS or OLB in the Bucs cover 2 scheme. Their next John Lynch. Black has a chance to be a star and gets to learn from Brooks. Fastest LB in the draft. Jackson is a prototypical cover 2 CB and intelligent. Peterson is a big pass rushing DE who needs time to be groomed. Rice will teach him a few moves. Hayward is a perfect fit as a WLB on a cover 2 D. Denman is a huge OT with a long reach who needs maybe a season to develop. Hamilton played the cover 2 a lot at Virginia and may fit right in on dime packages as an extra CB. Darby will spell the Cadillac from time to time. The futures looking brighter in the Bay. Cardinals = B+ They needed any type of lineman on offense, but Brown may be a bit too high. He's more a guard than tackle. Branch fell right into their laps and may even inspire ex-Wolverine team mate McBride to play up to his potential. If that happens, the Cards will have a duo on par with the Jags 2 All Pro DT's. Davis is short and battles with his weight, but is a over achiever and will help somewhere. Special teams perhaps. Breaston will have to make it as a returner. Patrick may be a real steal. The intelligent TE is a natural leader and gives the Cards 2 young TE's with Pope, but plays H-back as well. Chargers = A - The theme today was that the rich got richer. Davis will put Parker on the bench by years end maybe. Weddle is a perfect pick who can cover the TE or WR. Waters was a 1st rounder last year until he blew out his knee. He will help on special teams as he learns. Chandler is a huge TE at 6 '7' 270, but doesn't block at all. Naanee is a physical, unpolished specimen who will be given time to develop at WR while he plays special teams. Siler stock dropped more than any other prospect. Going from a possible first rounder to almost undrafted. He is a leader and makes plays, but won't dominate at ILB in the pros. Stiff in the hips, he is strictly a run support type who must make it on special teams on a team deep in LB's. Chiefs = D They amazingly did not address their offensive line woes. Johnson should last about 4 games. Think a small Earl Campbell getting burned out too fast. Bowe fills a need as far as the WR corps is aging and he can block well too. McBride is a hard worker at DE who will fill in for Allen while he serves his suspension. Tyler was on many mocks 1st round and may be a DT than can be useful in KC finally after all the busts. Smith is a poor mans Kimble Anders and will play that role. Medlock was a confusing pick with OT Frye on the board. Tynes has a much stronger leg, but Medlock may be more accurate. If they go with Medlock, don't expect a FG longer than 45 yards in a dome, much less windy KC. Taylor is versatile and can play C or T, but is not strong and is mainly an average pass blocker. Allan is athletic at TE, but will he be able to jump from Div - III to the NFL? Crazy they didn't draft more O lineman! Colts = A + Remember how the rich got richer? The Colts got 4 guys who were 1st round picks on many mock drafts! Gonzales replaces Stokely without blinking. Ugoh will learn as he is groomed to replace Glenn in a few years. Hughes won the Lott Award and was maybe the best fit as a CB for a cover 2 D in the draft = A REAL STEAL who starts day 1! Pitcock will rotate with Booger and help solidify the run support. Condren is a self made gym rat who will pay his dues on special teams a few years. Session can play all LB positions, but may be best suited as a SS. Hall is an H-back type who may stick. Coe can play S or CB, which Dungy likes, but will have to stick on special teams. Dawson could be a sleeper. At 6 foot 270, he is quick, can run and will line up at DE. Cowboys = A - Jerry missed wheeling and dealing. Spencer adds depth to a deep, talented LB corp. Martin is a solid offensive lineman who needs a year or 2 to learn. Stanback is a gifted athlete who Dallas may envision as a Hines Ward type. Free is an athletic OT who may start right away. Folk is a good kicker who can also punt great. Anderson is a special teams monster who also happens to block and catch well at FB. Brown is a lock down CB who will allow Henry to move to FS to shore up the deep hole in the D. Ball adds depth at CB and special teams. Dolphins = B Ginn has speed. Point blank. He needs to learn how to be a better WR, but maybe after watching Hester, the Fins think Ginn will win a few on special teams? A reach that is a grand slam if it works out. Beck was rated the 2nd best QB by many and comes from a system than grooms NFL ready QB's. He may end up starting sooner than expected if Lemon is..well...a lemon. Satele can play guard or center and will start day 1. Booker will be a 3rd down back to spell Brown. Now...what to do with Ricky? Soliai is a 2 gap DT who will stuff the run. Mauia is a solid guard who needs time to polish his skills. Mormino is a C who can play guard too. Smith is a cerebral LB who plays all LB positions OK, but may need to make his bones on special teams. Fields is a P with a slow release, but strong leg. Wright is a tweener at DE who may need to move to OLB and make it on special teams. Eagles = A + I'm no Iggles fan, but even I recognize Andy Reids unpredictable genius. Kolb will be the first QB he can groom since Donovan and can take his sweet time with Feeley and Holcome as back ups. It's a hit or miss that won't hurt if it misses, but don't bet against Reid. Abiamiri is a solid DE who will lend to the rotation. Bradley could be a real steal if his knee stays healthy. At the least, he helps on special teams. Hunt is a real steal here! Finally they can sit Westbrook on short yardage and relieve him of about 10 carries per game to lengthen his career. Gaddis has all the FS tools, but needs developmental time. He gets to learn from future Hall of Famer Dawkins. Celek is a good clutch receiver at TE. Barksdale was on every scouts sleeper list. He is a big CB who may be a pleasant surprise or a special teams contributor. Ilaoa is one of my favorite sleepers. He is 5 8' 250lbs with good speed and ultra soft hands. He may flop or he may end up being an integral part of the offense. Style of running is compared to Emmit Smith. Falcons = A + The Petrino era starts out STRONG! Anderson was the best defensive player on the board and helps them day 1. Blalock was a 1st rounder who fell to them and will be a solid guard for a decade. Houston is another 1st rounder who allows Williams to go to FS and gives Atlanta a young secondary that may soon be the best in the NFL! Robinson is a big, fast WR who will push the 2 former #1 WR's to either play to their potential or sit. Nicholas will be a blitzer and special teams star. Milner is a fast TE who must learn to catch the ball consistently. Lewis is a run stuffing DT who can also play guard. He'll be tried at both. Irons was a nice pick up and should contribute on dime packages and special teams. Datish can play all line positions, but C may be his calling. Stone is an athletic freak of nature and their future SS. A REAL STEAL! Snelling also qualifies as a steal. He will replace Duckett as the short yardage back, can play fullback, blocks and catches well also. He will be used often. Maybe the best draft in Falcons history and all should make the squad. Giants = C CB Ross was a fine pick up. WR Smith will push the aging Toomer. Alford is a pass rushing DT who fits right is with the pass rushing happy DE's. DeOssie is a LB who can line up anywhere, as well as long snap. Boss is a huge TE with great hands. Koets in now the ONLY LT on the roster! He is solid in technique, but needs to hit the weight room. Eli should be on his back often! Johnson is a possible prospect at FS who will need to stick on special teams. Bradshaw is a small RB who the G-men hope can catch some passes that were intended for Tiki this year. Best move still appears to be made by Tiki retiring. Amazing they didn't address their O line woes with more vigor! Jaguars = B + Nice, solid draft! Nelson gives them a top flight FS who can cover WR's easily. Durant is a perfect fit for their scheme and gets to learn from Del Rio. Versatile too. Walker came off a torn ACL to catch over 90 balls. A nice possession type of WR. Podlesh is a big, athletic P who some think is the next Ray Guy. Smith is a leader, but a tweener DE who will have to move to OLB and prove his hip is healthy. Nwaneri is a project still learning how to play guard, but could be a real find in a few years if he develops. Gattis is always around the ball and a special teams star. Landri is an undersized lunch pail type who may find a niche as a pass rushing DT. Broussard is a big WR lacking much speed. Nkang is a project who will either be a LB or SS, but will have to stick thru special teams. Carnahan is a big OT whose knee may not have healed yet and might need a year on the practice squad. Jets = B+ Mangini took a cue from his mentor and ran his draft room like a mad scientist. Revis was the top rated CB by many and starts now! Harris is very solid and starts day 1 as well at ILB. Bender is a huge T who will be given time to develop. Stuckey has all the tools to be a special WR, but is inconsistent. Coles will be a good mentor. Gave up a lot for 2 starters. Which may be just fine! Lions = A - Matt Millen was wheeling and dealing. Johnson was a no brainer. Furrey goes to the slot and Roy Williams may be the #2 WR for the first time in his life. Stanton may of been a reach. Time will tell, but Martz needs to groom a replacement for Kitna within 2 years. Alama- Francis is a awesome athlete who could help Detroit for a decade at DE. Alexander can play CB or FS. A solid pick. Davis should start at CB day 1. Ramirez should start right away and make several Pro Bowls at guard. Baldwin will be a solid WLB who can play MLB as well. Robinson started at CB for 3 years at 'Bama and is a leader. Packers = B - A gambling type of draft. Harrell should be solid for years, but Jackson came out too early and Jones was a huge reach. He's big, but not fast or consistent. A 4th WR type at best. Rouse can play LB or SS and is either going to be great or have a bum knee that will prevent him from going to the next level. Barbre is a unique talent who will take a few years to develop as a guard. Clowney is a speedy, undersized WR who works the underneath routes well, but has inconsistent hands. Hall will have to make it via special teams. Bishop is a run stuffing LB. Crosby was a curious pick, considering Rayner had an excellent rookie year. Crosby could be better than any Packer kicker ever though. Rayner won't be unemployed long. The Pack is gambling Wynn finally stays healthy and realizes his potential, which could be several thousand yard seasons. Harris is a big TE who isn't fast and needs to improve his blocking. Panthers = A Fox had a good draft. They had to settle for Beeson, but he will be fine at LB. Jarrett will learn from Keyshawn in his last year in the NFL. Kalil is a small C, but the best in the draft and expert at zone blocking. Johnson is a solid DE who will rotate in to spell the starters. Robinson is much in the mold of Steve Smith. The tiny WR should return kicks day 1 while learning his way into the offense. Rosario is a top notch athlete who is seen a Shannon Sharpe type and also loves playing special teams. Shaw is a consistent run stopper and may replace Morgan at MLB. Wilson was a top college CB who is best suited as a FS in the pros. Patriots = A + Evil Bill is at it again! Randy Moss for just! a 4th rounder is a joke and Moss returning to Pro Bowl form in his quest for a ring is practically a guarantee. Next year, 2 first rounders await! Merriweather is a proto typical Pat. He can play CB or either S position. He won't whack out up in NE either, the vets will keep him on a leash. Brown is a run stuffing DT who will spell Woolfolk. Oldenberg is the typical Pat pick. A huge OT they will take their time developing. Rogers is a big, speedy OLB Vrabel will groom to replace him. Richardson is smart and versatile, able to play CB or S. A Bellichek type of player. Hairston is big and fast at RB. A Patrick Pass clone who will play that role. Hilliard is a leader and is huge and versatile enough to play guard or OT. A cerebral type. Lua is a strong MLB with good pass rushing skills. Elgin is a hard worker and is versatile enough to play C or guard, but is small. Raiders = A+ Da Raiders might just win, baby! Russell will be throwing deep because he has the arm to. Miller will open up the middle because he is a huge TE with good hands. DE Moses was in the top 10 of most pre season mock drafts and will only help make an excellent D stronger. Henderson is a project at OT and will learn from the great Jackie Slater. Higgins is an enigma. The fastest WR in the draft, Al envisions him as the next Cliff Branch. He just may be right. Bush is a big back who has played small thus far. He may stick as a 3rd HB behind Jordan and Rhodes. Bowie will be forever known as the guy traded for Randy Moss. He is a speed merchant at CB and may be given time to develop while on special teams. Richardson is a tall DE with good upside and will need time to develop. Frampton is a hard working SS who will need to stick via special teams. O'Neal is a boom or bust type at FB whose stock has dropped the past few years. Holland is a 4.4 WR. Al loves speed. Great draft by the Maestro! Rams = B Carriker can play anywhere on the D line and excel. Leonards pick signifies a new wrinkle on the O. He may spell Jackson in the 1 back set on occasion, but the 2 set system will be there now with both backs excellent at catching passes. Wade will push for nickel back at the least day 1 and may soon start. Fry has a nasty streak in him at C or guard. Ryan was a DE at Michigan, but will probably move to DT in the NFL. Shackleford is big and can play either guard or T positions. Jackson is a solid DT that doesn't do anything particularly special. Stanley is a tiny WR with 4.4 speed who will have to make it by returning kicks. Ravens = A Ozzie Newsome is probably the best GM in the NFL. He just drafted 2 starting guards after watching his line get depleted a few weeks ago. Grubbs has All Pro potential, while Yanda plays with a nasty streak that will be embraced by McGahee and McNair. Figurs will return kicks and learn how to run routes from a former returner in Mason. Barnes is a pass rush specialist who will help on special teams. McClain starts a FB day 1. Smith will be given every opportunity to replace Boller as McNairs replacement. Burgess will have to make it via special teams. Redskins = A+ Credit them for not withering to Chicago's demands. They'll just get Briggs next year. They held pat and got the best safety since Ed Reed. Landry and Taylor will play off each other perfectly. This pick may insure Taylor staying in DC longer too. Count the trail of bodies they scrape off the turf the next decade as Taylor and Landry may form the best Safety duo in the history of the NFL. Imagine 2 Jack Tatums! Sartz is a tall, thin athlete who may work out as a WLB in time. He should be on the special teams a few years for now. Blades should do fine as a run stuffing SLB who comes out on passing downs. Palmer is another Joe Gibbs project (Jay Schroeder, Stan Humphries, Mark Rypien), a late draft pick given years to learn. Ecker is a huge TE drafted to block, much like a Don Warren. Saints = A - Meachum was rated the best WR in the draft by many. Alleman upgrades the O line and should be a solid guard a long time. Young should start day 1 at CB. Pittman adds depth at RB, a good move and value pick. Bushrod is a real sleeper at OT who may be blocking for Duce and Reggie for years. Jones is a play making ball hawk CB who upgrades the Saints poor secondary. Mitchell is a LB who needs to stick on special teams. Seahawks = A Did great with little to work with. Wilson is the fastest CB in the draft, cerebral and a dangerous returner. He should be a nickel back and return all their kicks day 1. Mebane plays with excellent leverage and will help out in the DT rotation. Atkins can play anywhere on the D line. Wrotto is the ultimate team player, who played DT as a junior due to injuries on the team. He is raw as a guard, but may be valuable in time. Has the tools. Herring is a WLB who may need to stick on special teams. Taylor is strictly a possession type of WR. Kent lettered in 3 varsity sports in one year! A rare achievement! He is raw, but a prospect worth grooming at WR. Vallos is a guard prospect. Steelers = B Tomlin seems to have a plan that we will have to wait and see what it is. Timmons is envisioned to replace Porter. Woodley is a tweener who is a decent pass rusher. Spaeth is tough, smart, big and has great hands for a TE. Sepulveda a huge punter with a huge leg. McBean is a huge DE who can rush the passer. Stephenson is a good guard who will help them in a few years. Gay is a CB who will have to make it on special teams. Baker has the bloodlines, but will need to bulk up to make it at WR. Texans = A I liked their draft! Okoye will team with Williams, Ryans, and a young and up and coming defense that will be respected league wide sooner than you think. Jones is a possible sleeper from little Lane college, who is huge and fast. He and Johnson may form a fantastic WR duo. Bennett is a big CB who will push for a starting job on a team deep in quality CB's. Harrison is a big, athletic SS who needs to get more aggressive. Frye will be a solid RT. Studdard is best suited to play C. Diles is an intelligent tackling machine who might have to play special teams a few years at first. Titans = C + Griffin was drafted ahead of Nelson, which was curious, considering Nelson can cover WR's and Pacman is gone. Still, a solid safety who should help on run support. Henry was a reach, but he is a big, athletic back. Williams will probably be a wasted pick. He plays with no heart and rarely showed his full speed on the field. He plays like he doesn't want to be there. I'd be surprised if he made the team and shocked if he lasted more than a season, but pray he gets into football because he has all the tools. Harris is a C who also can play anywhere on the O line. Davis is a small WR with the knack for the clutch catch. He will return punts in Pacmans absence. Johnson is a quick 2 gap DT. 49ers = A Willis will learn from Mike Singletary, 'Nuff said! Staley will learn from Larry Allen. Hill is a big WR with a nose for the end zone. McDonald will contribute as long as his knees hold up. An excellent job by the 49ers thus far! Bears = A - Olson will be a nice pass catching TE. Bazuin is a blue collar guy who adds depth for run support. Wolfe is a 3rd down back to spell Benson. Okwo will learn while playing special teams for a few years. Solid job thus far. Bengals = C+ Hall is a great pick who will team with Joseph to give them a solid, young CB tandem. Irons is a confusing pick considering they just resigned Watson to a big multi-year deal. Is this their way of saying Perry is done? Bills = A+ Hall of Famer Marv Levy pulls out a great draft so far! Lynch is seen in the mold of Thurman Thomas/ Ken Davis and a better fit for their offense than Magahee. A real steal! Posluszny will either try to fill Spikes or Fletchers spot and is solid. A 1st rounder dropped to the 2nd! Many had Edwards the 2nd rated QB behind Russell and he will provide a nice push for the improving Losman. Broncos = B As usual, they trade. Cardinals = B+ They needed any type of lineman on offense, but Brown may be a bit too high. He's more a guard than tackle. Branch fell right into their laps and may even inspire ex-Wolverine team mate McBride to play up to his potential. If that happens, the Cards will have a duo on par with the Jags 2 All Pro DT's. The Colts got 4 guys who were 1st round picks on many mock drafts! Gonzales replaces Stokely without blinking. Ugoh will learn as he is groomed to replace Glenn in a few years. Martin is a solid offensive lineman who needs a year or 2 to learn. If they fail to address the secondary or WR, this grade drops to a D. Dolphins = B Ginn has speed. Point blank. He needs to learn how to be a better WR, but maybe after watching Hester, the Fins think Ginn will win a few on special teams? A reach that is a grand slam if it works out. Beck was rated the 2nd best QB by many and comes from a system than grooms NFL ready QB's. He may end up starting sooner than expected if Lemon is..well...a lemon. Satele can play guard or center and will start day 1. Booker will be a 3rd down back to spell Brown. Now...what to do with Ricky? Eagles = A I'm no Iggles fan, but even I recognize Andy Reids unpredictable genius. Kolb will be the first QB he can groom since Donovan and can take his sweet time with Feeley and Holcome as back ups. It's a hit or miss that won't hurt if it misses, but don't bet against Reid. Abiamiri is a solid DE who will lend to the rotation. Bradley could be a real steal if his knee stays healthy. At the least, he helps on special teams. Hunt is a real steal here! Anderson was the best defensive player on the board and helps them day 1. Blalock was a 1st rounder who fell to them and will be a solid guard for a decade. Houston is another 1st rounder who allows Williams to go to FS and gives Atlanta a young secondary that may soon be the best in the NFL! A nice possession type of WR. Jets = B+ Mangini took a cue from his mentor and ran his draft room like a mad scientist. Revis was the top rated CB by many and starts now! Harris is very solid and starts day 1 as well at ILB. They only have 1 pick remaining in the 6th round. Gave up a lot for 2 starters. Which may be just fine! Lions = A - Matt Millen was wheeling and dealing and I'm not sure he is done yet. Johnson was a no brainer. Furrey goes to the slot and Roy Williams may be the #2 WR for the first time in his life. Stanton may of been a reach. Time will tell, but Martz needs to groom a replacement for Kitna within 2 years. Alama- Francis is a awesome athlete who could help Detroit for a decade at DE. Alexander can play CB or FS. A solid pick. Young should start at CB day 1. Lions have 6 more picks coming too. Packers = B - A gambling type of draft. Harrell should be solid for years, but Jackson came out too early and Jones was a huge reach. He's big, but not fast or consistent. A 4th WR type at best. Rouse can play LB or SS and is either going to be great or have a bum knee that will prevent him from going to the next level. Panthers = A Fox had a good draft so far. They had to settle for Beeson, but he will be fine at weak side OLB. Jarrett will learn from Keyshawn in his last year in the NFL. Kalil is a small C, but the best in the draft and expert at zone blocking. Johnson is a solid DE who will rotate in to spell the starters. Patriots = A Evil Bill is at it again! Next year, 2 first rounders await! Merriweather is a proto typical Pat. He can play CB or either S position. He won't wack out up in NE either, the vets will keep him on a leash. What Bill does day 2 with their SEVEN!!! picks is as usual = unknown. Raiders = A Da Raiders might just win, baby! Randy Moss is on the trading block, but he better wise up and beg Al to stay and start working hard again! He would look good next to Porter. Russell would be throwing them the ball at any depth because he has the arm to. Miller would open up the middle because he is a huge TE with good hands. Moses was in the top 10 of most pre season mock drafts and will only help make an excellent D stronger. Henderson is a project at Tackle and will learn from the great Jackie Slater. Tyler was a 1st rounder on many mock drafts and will start day 1. Wade will push for nickel back at the least day 1 and may soon start. Ravens = A Ozzie Newsome is probably the best GM in the NFL. Grubbs has All Pro potential, while Yanda plays with a nasty streak that will be embraced by Magahee and McNair. Figurs will return kicks and learn how to run routes from a former returner in Mason. Redskins = A+ They only have one more pick, but credit them for not withering to Chicagos demands. They'll just get Briggs next year. They held pat and got the best safety since Ed Reed. Landry and Taylor will play off each other perfectly. This pick may insure Taylor staying in DC longer too. Count the trail of bodies they scrape off the turf the next decade as Taylor and Landry may form the best Safety duo in the history of the NFL. Imagine 2 Jack Tatums! Saints = C - Meachum is a good WR, but they already had Colston, Henderson, Copper and Patten! They NEED CB's! Alleman keeps them from a failing grade as he upgrades the O line and should be a solid guard a long time. Do they expect to get a decent CB day 2? Most are gone. BAD JOB by Sean Payton! Seahawks = A Did great with little to work with. Wilson is the fastest CB in the draft, cerebral and a dangerous returner. He should be a nickel back and return all their kicks day 1. Mebane plays with excellent leverage and will help out in the DT rotation. Steelers = B Tomlin seems to have a plan that we will have to wait and see what it is. Timmons is envisioned to replace Porter. Woodley is a tweener who is a decent pass rusher. Spaeth was confusing, considering they have Miller, but he is tough, smart, big and has great hands. Texans = A I liked their draft thus far! Okoye will team with Williams, Ryans, Babin and a young and up and coming defense that will be respected league wide sooner than you think. Resolved Question: Safety caps on household items?

I have great difficulty these days in opening various safety caps on bottles of cleaning items such as toilet cleaners, bottles of turps when decorating. Even worse are tools which have batteries to charge as I can't squeeze the buttons to release the catch as my hands are too small. I have even had to resort to pressing one button on the corner of a freezer and pushing hard on the other button to release the battery. Don't the makers of these items ever think of females when making these items? We don't all have a strong male with large hands readily available. I have noticed that in Spain, Domestos bottles have the ordinary screw cap, not the one like the UK where the cap has to be squeezed and turned, something that is virtually impossible for weak or arthritic hands. Funny thing is, any child can easily open these containers and they are supposed to be the ones who can't!!! more

Resolved Question: How Should Deal With Stress and Anxiety ?

Stress is life. Stress is anything that causes mental, physical, or spiritual tension. There is no running away from it. All that matters is how you deal with it. This article does not deal with the factors of stress, anxiety, and depression, nor is it a clinical advice. If you feel depressed, you are not alone. It has been estimated that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians in America are for stress-related problems. This is why it is wise to consult a doctor if you are having physical symptoms of stress. However, here are some tips that can help from a spiritual perspective. Torture. Beatings. Loss of property. The death of loved ones. These were just some of the enormous challenges the Muslims of Makkah faced in the seventh century following their acceptance of Islam in fiercely tribal and polytheistic Makkah. Detention. Harassment. Beatings. Discrimination. Loss of Job. Profiling. Hate Crimes. Constant media attention. Surveillance. These are just some of the challenges Muslims in America today face, post-9/11. Like our predecessors in Makkah, we have begun to face great stress, anxiety, and pressure, more than ever in our recent history on this continent, although Muslims who were brought here as slaves faced worse than what we can even imagine. 1. Ask Him. He Listens: DU`A Turn each anxiety, each fear and each concern into a Dua (supplication). Look at it as another reason to submit to God and be in Sajdah (prostration), during which you are closest to Allah. God listens and already knows what is in your heart, but He wants you to ask Him for what you want. The Prophet said: Allah is angry with those who do not ask Him for anything (Tirmidhi). The Prophet once said that in prayer, he would find rest and relief (Nasai). He would also regularly ask for God's forgiveness and remain in prostration during prayer praising God (Tasbeeh) and asking for His forgiveness (Bukhari). Allah wants you to be specific. The Prophet advised us to ask Allah for exactly what we want instead of making vague Duas. Dua is the essence of worship (the Prophet as quoted in Tirmidhi). "Call on your Lord with humility and in private: for Allah loveth not those who trespass beyond bounds. Do not make mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in order, but call on Him with fear. And longing (in your hearts): for the mercy of Allah is (always) near to those who do good" (Quran 7:55-56). 2. Tie your Camel: DO YOUR PART One day Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel without tying it. He asked the Bedouin, "Why don't you tie down your camel?" The Bedouin answered, "I put my trust in Allah." The Prophet then said, "Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah" (Tirmidhi). Muslims must never become fatalistic. Although we know only Allah is in control and that He has decreed all things, we are each responsible for making the right choices and doing the right thing in all situations of our lives. We must take action (link to planning articles on SV). We must work to alleviate the hardships we, our families and our communities face. Ask yourself the following questions if you are worried about the state of the world: are you part of the peace movement? Is your Masjid part of the peace movement? Are you part of an interfaith group with an agenda of peace and justice? Are you working with a group fighting discrimination? If your answer is no, it is time that you sat down to plan your share of time and money in finding solutions to the problems you face. "Verily Allah does not change men's condition unless they change their inner selves" (Quran 13: 11). Turn each worry into a Du`a and each Du`a into an action plan. That will show your commitment to your request and will focus your energy in the right direction. 3. Remember that human responsibility is limited While we need to carry out our duty to the best of our abilities, always remember that you don't control the outcome of events. Even the Prophets did not control the outcome of their efforts. Some were successful, others were not. Once you have done your duty, leave the results to Allah. Regardless of the results of your efforts, you will be rewarded for the part you have played. However, never underestimate your abilities. Understand the concept of Barakah (blessings from Allah) and remember that Allah can and Insha Allah will expand them if you are sincerely exerting your energies for the right path. 4. Leave the world behind you FIVE TIMES A DAY Use the five daily prayers as a means to become more Hereafter-oriented and less attached to this temporary world. Start distancing yourself as soon as you hear Adhan, the call to prayer. When you perform Wudu, keep repeating Shahada, the declaration of faith, as water drops slip down your face, hands, arms, and hair. When you stand ready to pray, mentally prepare yourself to leave this world and all of its worries and stresses behind you. Of course, Shaytan will try to distract you during prayer. But whenever this happens, go back and remember Allah. The more you return, the more Allah will reward you for it. Also, make sure your Sajdas (prostrations) are talking Sajdas, in which you are really connecting to God and seeking His Mercy, praising Him, and asking His forgiveness. (link to Sajda article...ramadan page) 5. Seek help through SABR Seek help through Sabr and Salat (Quran 2:45). This instruction from Allah provides us with two critical tools that can ease our worries and pain. Patience and prayer are two oft-neglected stressbusters. Sabr is often translated as patience but it is not just that. It includes self-control, perseverance, endurance, and a focused struggle to achieve one's goal. Unlike patience, which implies resignation, the concept of Sabr includes a duty to remain steadfast to achieve your goals despite all odds. Being patient gives us control in situations where we feel we have little or no control. 'We cannot control what happens to us but we can control our reaction to our circumstances' is the mantra of many modern-day self-help books. Patience helps us keep our mind and attitude towards our difficulties in check. 6. Excuse Me! You are Not Running the World, HE is. It is important to remind ourselves that we don't control all the variables in the world. God does. He is the Wise, the All-Knowing. Sometimes our limited human faculties are not able to comprehend His wisdom behind what happens to us and to others, but knowing that He is in control and that as human beings we submit to His Will, enriches our humanity and enhances our obedience (Uboodiah in Arabic) towards him. Read the story of the encounter of Moses with the mysteries behind God's decision (Quran: 18:60-82). Familiarize yourself with God's 99 Names, which are also known as His Attributes. It is a powerful way of knowing Him. "God-there is no deity save Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsistent Fount of All being. Neither slumber overtakes Him, nor sleep. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth. Who is there that could intercede with Him, unless it be by His leave? He knows all that lies open before men and all that is hidden from them, whereas they cannot attain to aught of His knowledge save that which He wills them to attain. His eternal power overspreads the heavens and the earth, and their upholding wearies Him not. And He alone is truly exalted, tremendous." (Quran 2:255). The Prophet recommended reading this verse, known as Ayat al kursi, after each prayer, Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. Once Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, approached the Prophet during a difficult time and he found the Prophet in Sajda, where he kept repeating "Ya Hayy Ya Qayyum", words which are part of this verse. 7. Birds Don't Carry their Food Allah is al Razzaq (the Provider). "How many are the creatures that carry not their own sustenance? It is Allah Who feeds them and you, for He hears and knows all things (Quran 29:60)." By reminding yourself that He is the Provider, you will remember that getting a job or providing for your family in these economically and politically challenging times, when Muslims are often the last to be hired and the first to be fired, is in God's Hands, not yours. As Allah says in the Quran: "And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if anyone puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish His purpose. Verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion (Quran 65:3). 8. God controls Life and Death If you fear for your physical safety and security, remember that only Allah gives life and takes it back and, that He has appointed the time for it. No one can harm you except if Allah wills. As He says in the Quran: "Wherever you are, death will find you out, even if you are in towers built up strong and high!" (Quran 4:78). 9. Remember that life is short It's easy to get caught up in our own stress and anxiety. However, if we remember that our life is short and temporary, and that the everlasting life is in the Hereafter, this will put our worries in perspective. This belief in the transitory nature of the life of this world reminds us that whatever difficulties, trials, anxieties, and grief we suffer in this world are, Insha Allah, something we will only experience for a short period of time. And more importantly, if we handle these tests with patience, Allah will reward us for it. 10. Do Zikr, Allah, Allah! "... without doubt in the remembrance (Zikr) of Allah do hearts find tranquility" (Quran 13:28). If you commute, use your time in Zikr. Pick any Tasbeeh and do that instead of listening to the radio or reading the newspaper. Maybe you can divide it up between Zikr and planning. Personally, I recite the Tasbeeh of "Subhana Allahe wa be hamdihi, subhan Allahil Azeem" 100 times as I drive. The Prophet taught us these two short phrases which are easy to say but will weigh heavy on our scale of good deeds in the Hereafter. When your heart feels heavy with stress or grief, remember Allah and surround yourself with His Zikr. Zikr refers to all forms of the remembrance of Allah, including Salat, Tasbeeh, Tahmeed, Tahleel, making supplication (Dua), and reading Quran. "And your Lord says: 'Call on Me; I will answer your (prayer)..." (Quran 40:60) By remembering Allah in the way He has taught us to, we are more likely to gain acceptance of our prayers and His Mercy in times of difficulty. We are communicating with the only One Who not only Hears and Knows all, but Who can change our situation and give us the patience to deal with our difficulties. "Remember Me, and I shall remember you; be grateful to Me, and deny Me not" (Quran 2:152). 11. Relying on Allah: Tawakkul When you awaken in the morning, thank Allah for giving you life after that short death called sleep. When you step out of your home, say 'in Your Name Allah, I put my trust in Allah, and there is no power or force except with Allah' (Bismillahi Tawakal to al Allah wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah). At night, remember Allah, with His praises on your lips. Once you have established a plan you intend to follow through on to deal with a specific issue or problem in your life, put your trust in the most Wise and the All-Knowing. "When you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah" (Quran 3: 159). Rely on Allah by constantly remembering Him throughout your day. When you lay down to sleep, remember that sleep is death. That is why one of the recommended supplications before going to sleep is "with Your (Allah's) Name I die and become alive". 12. Connect with other human beings You are not alone. Muslims are not alone. We are not suffering in silence. There are millions of good people who are not Muslim with beautiful hearts and minds. These are people who have supported us, individually and collectively, post-9/11, by checking up on us and making sure we are safe. These are individuals and organizations who have spoken up in defense of Muslims as we endured harassment and discrimination. We must think of them, talk to them, connect with them, and pray for them. Through our connections, we will break the chain of isolation that leads to depression and anxiety. 13. Compare your dining table with that of those who don't have as much as you do The Prophet said: Whenever you see someone better than you in wealth, face or figure, you should look at someone who is inferior to you in these respects (so that you may thank Allah for His blessings) (Bukhari, Muslim). Next time you sit down to eat, eye the table carefully. Check out the selection of food, the quality, the taste, the quantity, and then think of the millions of others who don't have even half as much. The Prophet's Hadith reminds us of this so that we can appreciate and thank God for all that we have. Also remember that the Prophet only encouraged us to compare ourselves to others in two respects: in our Islamic knowledge and level of belief in God (Deen). In these two areas, we should compare ourselves with those who have more than what we do. 14. Say it Loud: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar: Takbirat & Adhan Find a corner of a lake, go out in the wilderness, or even stand on your lawn at your home and call the Adhan with your heart. While driving, instead of listening to the same news over and over again, say Allahu Akbar as loudly as you can or as softly as you want, based on your mood. Year ago, I remember calling Adhan on a Lake Michigan shore in Chicago after sunset as the water gushed against my knees. I was calling it for myself. There was no one else accept the waves after waves of water with their symphony. It was relaxing and meaningful. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. 15. Pray in congregation (Jamat) Pray with other people instead of alone. If you can't pray all five prayers in congregation, at least find one or two prayers you can pray with others. If you are away, establish Jamat in your own family. During the Prophet's time, even though the Muslims endured great persecution, including physical beatings, they would sometimes meet on the side of a mountain or valley and tried to pray together. This is a great morale booster. 16. How is your Imam's Dua? Does the Imam at your local mosque make Dua silently or out loud? Ask him to supplicate with the whole congregation. Suggest Duas for him to make. Ask him to make Dua for other people. 17. Work for the Unity of Muslims Bringing Muslims together will not only help the Muslims, but it will also encourage you to focus your energies on something constructive versus zeroing in on and consistently fretting about difficulties you are going through. Invite Muslims from other ethnic groups to your functions. Visit Masjids other than yours in your city. When you meet a Muslim leader, after thanking him for his efforts, ask him what he is doing for Muslim unity. Ask Imams to make Dua for this. These are just small ways you can help yourself and the Muslim community. 18. Sleep the way the Prophet slept End your day on a positive note. Make Wudu, then think of your day. Thank Allah for all the good things you accomplished, like Zikr and Salat. Ask yourself what you did today to bring humanity together and what you did to help Muslims become servants of humanity. It's important to know what's going on but not to an extent that it ruins your day or your mood. (similarly, when you are in a sad mood, refrain from wallowing and listening to sad songs) 21. Pray for Others to Heal Yourself. The Prophet was always concerned about other people, Muslims and non-Muslims, and would regularly pray for them. Praying for others connects you with them and helps you understand their suffering. This in itself has a healing component to it. The Prophet has said that praying for someone who is not present increases love. 22. Make the Quran your Partner Reading and listening to the Quran will help refresh our hearts and our minds. Recite it out loud or in a low voice. Listen to it in the car. When you are praying Nafl or extra prayers, pick it up and use it to recite portions of the Quran you are not as familiar with. Connecting to the Quran means connecting to God. Let it be a means to heal your heart of stress and worries. Invest in different recordings of the Quran and their translations. "O humanity! There has come to you a direction from your Lord and a cure for all [the ills] in men's hearts - and for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy" (Quran 10:57). 23. Be thankful to Allah "If you are grateful, I will give you more" (Quran 14:7). Counting our blessings helps us not only be grateful for what we have, but it also reminds us that we are so much better off than millions of others, whether that is in terms of our health, family, financial situation, or other aspects of our life. And being grateful for all we have helps us maintain a positive attitude in the face of worries and challenges we are facing almost daily. 24. I'm looking for a small handgun primarily for home defense, secondarily as a tool for sport (shooting for fun). My priorities, in order, are: ease of use, safety/reliability, stopping power, non-penetration through thin walls, and durability (so that I can set it aside for months at a time without maintenance or attention without it falling apart).
